On April 9, 2026, the country observes Araw ng Kagitingan, a national holiday that commemorates the bravery and sacrifice of Filipino and American soldiers during World War II.
1942 April 9th, marked the Fall of Bataan, a pivotal moment in the country's history, as Filipino and American forces surrendered to the Japanese army after a grueling 99-day battle. The heroic defense of Bataan against overwhelming odds has become a symbol of courage and resilience in the face of adversity.
The valor displayed by the soldiers during the Fall of Bataan and the Bataan Death March is a testament and a reminder to the strength and determination of the Filipino people. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten, and their legacy continues to inspire generations to stand up for freedom, justice, and the rights of the nation.
As the nation honors the heroes of Bataan, the opportunity to reflect on the importance of patriotism, courage, and unity. Their bravery serves as a reminder to strive for a brighter future, built on the principles of freedom, justice, and peace.
Cordova Public College (CPC) participated in the Falculan Twins’ Review Center (FTRC) Regional Battle of the Brains Cebu Cluster held on April 11, 2026, at the CAP College Building along Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City.
Representing the college in the academic competition were Ian Pogoy Petallar, a fourth-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) Major in English student; Darlene Villaceran, a fourth-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) student; and Chloe Faith Villaceran, a third-year BEEd student, who competed individually against participants from various institutions.
The participants were guided by coaches Ma’am Erica Dico and Ma’am Jenysel Cadungog, with the support of College of Teacher Education (CTE) Dean Dr. Jenylen Cabiso.
Through their participation, CPC representatives exemplified dedication to learning and excellence, highlighting the institution’s commitment to developing competent and future-ready educators.
