Bachelor of Secondary Education
About this course
The Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) program at Cordova Public College is designed to prepare future professional educators who will teach in secondary schools. It focuses on developing strong teaching competencies, subject mastery, and effective classroom management skills.
The program combines theoretical foundations of education with practical teaching experience. Students study educational psychology, curriculum development, assessment strategies, and instructional methods, along with specialized subjects depending on their chosen major (such as English, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies).
Through supervised teaching practice and school immersion, BSED students gain hands-on experience in real classroom settings, helping them build confidence and instructional skills. Graduates are qualified to pursue careers as licensed secondary school teachers in public or private institutions, and may also continue advanced studies in education or related fields.
